A propos de cette plage

Mari Pintau, meaning 'painted sea' in Sardinian, is a stunning small beach near Quartu Sant'Elena just east of Cagliari. The name perfectly describes its extraordinary water, which displays an almost unreal palette of blues, greens, and turquoises that seem painted by an artist. The beach consists of smooth white pebbles and small rocks rather than sand, which contributes to the incredible water clarity. The seabed drops away relatively quickly, making it better suited for confident swimmers. Snorkeling here is exceptional, with clear visibility revealing a vibrant underwater world. Perched on a dramatic stretch of coast between Cagliari and Villasimius, Mari Pintau offers a more rugged, natural alternative to the nearby city beach of Poetto. The approach involves a steep path down through maquis, adding to its slightly adventurous appeal.

I wish I can give this sandy beach more than a 5. Very beautiful view from above, easy to reach by bus just 5 minute walk from bus stop. Can access it either by a short easy walk through the path that is next to car parking area or by walking through the woods, shallow and safe you can walk in the water for long distances, pebbles on the shore and rocks on the sides but all sandy in the water, calm water everytime it would be windy in other areas this is the calmest, crystal clear waters, nature is still wild and no buildings on or around the shore, little cafe right on the path to the beach, toilets available.

Lovely small beach with two bars—one at the entrance to the area and the other right on the beach. Parking costs €15 per day. Sept. 2025

Stunning little spot. So many wasps around you that make it hard to relax if you're worried of being stung.

We stayed here today (21.8. about 17:00) from the trip from Cagliari. There were only a few parking places free along the road. To the beach is up to 5 minutes. At this time there were enough people but we found the place. Beach is stony, also at the beginning of the see are stones, after cca 3-4 metres is sand. Water shoes are recommended. I did not see almost any fish.

Very beautiful beach and calm waters, great for kids. There were little fish swimming around as well, the water is so clear. It does get very busy during high season (visited last week of June), and parking is limited along the road mostly so get here before 10am. But like others have said, it’s mostly a rocky beach which might not be for everyone. Bringing beach chairs would help. Be ware as there are no facilities like many beaches in Sardinia, the only washroom/toilet available is affiliated with the beach bar/umbrella and sun lounger rental, and they are charging 2 euros for each toilet use.
